As you begin planning your Connecticut wedding you will find that there are a whole host of decisions to be made. From the choice of the wedding reception venue to the floral arrangements, there are so many choices to make that it can all seem very overwhelming. One of the most important decisions that couples have to face, is the choice of refreshments for their guests. To assist you on planning your wedding, we have compiled five important tips for how to choose your wedding wine to please your guests, yourself and your wallet!

  • You should always have at least one white & one red. It’s safe to serve at least one white, and one red, and sometimes also a rosé over lunch or dinner. Pinot Noir is a food-friendly option that will be a safe bet whether your guests are eating chicken, steak, or mushroom ravioli.
  • How much wine do you need for your wedding reception? You can usually plan on one drink per guest per hour, but when in doubt, it’s best to be safe and have too much wine on hand than too little. No one wants to make a run to the liquor store during wedding party, and you certainly don’t want to have to worry about things like that on your big day. Also, many liquor stores will agree to refund any wine that was not consumed.
  • Buy by the case, it’s less expensive. Many wine retailers give 10% to 15% discount or more on case purchases, so it makes sense to buy this way. A case of wine will contain twelve bottles.
  • Choose a sparkling wine for your toast. One of the most memorable moments at the wedding reception is the toast. A good alternative to champagne is a nice sparkling wine.

Wine has been served at weddings since the beginning of time. Nevertheless, tasting and choosing the wine for your own wedding is an important and challenging endevour.
